Theatre ‘t Spant – Bussum, the Netherlands

At the ‘t Spant theatre in Bussum, the Netherlands, a custom wall lining combines acoustic performance with a strong spatial form. Perforated leather sits on three-dimensional geometric elements, so the walls gain depth and change with the direction of the light. Lighting integrated into the lining emphasises the folds of the surface and shapes the atmosphere of the auditorium. The solution improved acoustic comfort and gave the room an elegant, singular character. The project was developed with the design studio Kabaz and with Alphenberg.
