Restaurant FRED – Rotterdam, the Netherlands

Rotterdam, the Netherlands

A complete transformation of a two-Michelin-star restaurant interior, bringing together leather, acoustics and hand finishing.

Restaurant FRED in Rotterdam, awarded two Michelin stars, underwent a complete interior transformation for its tenth anniversary. The aim was an elegant yet relaxed space in which exceptional design complements the dining experience.

At Craftworks we produced the leather and acoustic elements that are an important part of the new interior. In the entrance we built a striking tunnel finished with a three-dimensional acoustic lining in soft suede. The same material covers the columns, in a custom blue matched to the interior.

Leather was also used on the sofas, the fitted furniture and the decorative details of the tables. Different textures, colours and forms come together in an interior where acoustics, comfort and aesthetics form a whole.

The project shows how natural leather can be decorative, practical and acoustic at once — from subtle details to the dominant elements of the interior.
